Democrats Unveil New Plan To Pass Old Ideas

As promised by former U.S. Senate Leader Harry Reid, Democrats unveiled their anti-gun proposals on Thursday.

In the wake of President Obama’s increased pressure on lawmakers and gun owners to take action, and Hillary Clinton’s announcement of her own gun control plans, Senate Democrats called for closing the non-existent “gun show loophole,” restricting online sales, expanded background checks and increased penalties for straw purchases. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., claimed to be riding a crest of voices calling for increased gun control: “We expect there will be a groundswell.”

Of course, they expect nothing of the sort, having seen the national polls trending in support of gun rights. They even admit they hope to score political points for the November elections.

Ironically, they staged their calls to restrict the rights of gun owners on the steps of the Capitol, protected by about a dozen armed U.S. Capitol Police officers.
