Another Restaurant Patron Stops Another Armed Robbery

posted on October 13, 2015

An armed robbery suspect was shot and killed by a concealed-carry permit holder at a Waterbury, Conn., restaurant early Saturday morning. Witnesses told police that the would-be robber entered the cafe wielding a handgun and tried to steal from the business and its customers. However, a patron who was legally carrying a handgun confronted the robber and fired his gun at least once, killing the man.

The shooter remained on scene and is cooperating with police. No charges had been filed against the shooter as of Sunday at 5 p.m. The Waterbury Police Department is investigating the case as a homicide and said they will continue to investigate the shooting in collaboration with the Waterbury State’s Attorney’s Office.

News of the concealed permit holder stopping the Cafe Azzurri robbery comes just one day after a concealed-carry permit holder stopped a robbery at a Waffle House in North Charleston, S.C.
