Suspect Shot In North Carolina Home Invasion

Three men reportedly entered a home in Merritt, N.C., at 3 a.m. on Saturday, wearing masks and wielding a weapon. They were said to have demanded money from the occupants, but a resident in the home opened fire and killed one of the intruders. The deceased suspect, Moses Ellis Tolvert III, had a long criminal history including several gun charges.

The Sun Journal reports that the other suspects fled in a blue Chrysler and are being sought by police. Given Tolvert’s record, it seems quite plausible that he was ready to do violence against the residents. It is fortunate that one of them was armed and ready.
