New polling reveals that despite all of the sensationalist media coverage and angling by politicians that mass shootings produce, Americans find much more frightening the prospect of losing their constitutional rights. Chapman University has released its Survey of American Fears, which reveals that only 16.4 percent of the respondents identified mass shootings among their greatest fears; on the other hand, 36.5 percent are “afraid” or “very afraid” of gun control.
Breitbart points out that the survey reveals a consistent trend in which Americans are more afraid of government overreach than of the actions of crazed individuals. This is a bad sign for Hillary Clinton and her fellow Democratic presidential candidates; it appears that guns aren’t the only issue on which they will find themselves out of tune with the majority of the population.
Kansas Mom Shoots Home Invader
A woman was home alone with her child shortly after midnight in Overbrook, Kan., when she heard a series of noises. She soon found Bruce Jolly in her house. When the suspect allegedly ignored her demands that he leave and took another step toward her, she fired a single shot and hit him in the abdomen. Police reported receiving a call from the homeowner and, five minutes later, a second call from the wounded suspect seeking medical attention.
The woman will not be charged for shooting the suspect in self-defense. Her neighbor made a statement of support: “I would have taken the exact same action that she would have. I believe she did the right thing in protecting her child from an unknown (man).”
Hillary Reveals Support For Gun Confiscation
During a speaking engagement in New Hampshire, an audience member asked Hillary Clinton whether a large-scale gun confiscation like the one that occurred in Australia would be feasible in the United States. “I think it would be worth considering doing it on the national level, if that could be arranged,” was her reply.
Just like that, all of Hillary’s talk of “respecting” the Second Amendment is revealed to be nothing but hot air. “This validates what the NRA has said all along,” commented NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris W. Cox. “The real goal of gun control supporters is gun confiscation. Hillary Clinton, echoing President Obama’s recent remarks on the same issue, made that very clear.”
