Burglar In Broad Daylight Taken To The Shed

posted on October 30, 2015

It was a little before lunchtime, around 11:30 a.m., when a New Orleans homeowner heard noises coming from the alleyway next to his home. The 68-year-old grabbed his gun and went out to investigate, and he found a man stealing items from his shed.

The homeowner confronted the thief at gunpoint, hoping to detain him for the police, when 48-year-old Kelly Jackson reportedly tried to attack him. During the resulting physical altercation, the victim fired several shots at Jackson—striking him in the stomach, arm and leg. The armed citizen then called for police while Jackson fled and then collapsed.

Jackson remains in the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He will be charged burglary upon his release, and detectives are investigating whether he might be responsible for other thefts in the area. The homeowner is not facing any charges.
