NRA-Backed Candidates Win Governor’s Race In Kentucky And Mississippi

posted on November 5, 2015

NRA A-rated candidates prevailed in both of Tuesday’s gubernatorial elections.

In Mississippi, Republican Gov. Phil Bryant, a former law enforcement officer and NRA Life member, won a second term. During his first term, Bryant signed into law more than a dozen pro-Second Amendment measures and advanced the state’s Right To Hunt And Fish Amendment, which voters approved by 88 percent in 2014. “As a gun owner and defender of the Second Amendment, I believe the work of the NRA is critical in protecting our freedom,” Bryant said.

Kentucky’s new governor, Republican Matt Bevin, is also an NRA Life member. While the businessman and Army veteran has never held public office, he has been involved in politics, recently calling on Kentucky lawmakers to legalize permitless carry. Bevin has vowed to defend firearms freedom as governor: “Matt believes the Second Amendment means exactly what it says,” explained his campaign manager.

We congratulate Bryant and Bevin on their victories!
