Poll Shows That Americans Think Terrorism Is The Problem, Not Guns

posted on December 15, 2015

According to a recent Gallup poll, Americans feel that terrorism is “the most important problem facing the country today.” After the terrorist attacks in Paris and San Bernardino, 16 percent of Americans, nearly 1 in 6, now identify terrorism as the most important issue in the United States—an increase of 3 percent from early November and the highest percentage in a decade. The percentage of respondents who mentioned any aspect of the economy as their top concern dropped to 21 percent from 39 percent in November.

Only 7 percent of Americans responded that guns constitute the nation’s greatest “problem.” All three major Democratic presidential candidates are hoping that America will embrace gun control in the wake of these attacks, but these results demonstrate little appetite on the part of voters to trample on the Second Amendment in the false hope of greater security.
