South Carolina Homeowner Shoots Intruder

posted on December 23, 2015

First he tried to gain entrance through the front door. When that attempt failed, he went around back and tried another door. By that time, the homeowner was ready.

Eric Smith, 24, was attempting to break into a residence in Richland County, S.C. It was around 2 p.m. on a Saturday afternoon, and the homeowner was home. Upon hearing the sounds of someone trying to get into his house, he went and got his gun. By that time, Smith had moved around to the back door and was trying to get in that way. The homeowner then fired his handgun, striking Smith in the lower body.

Smith was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. When released, he’ll be charged with burglary first-degree. And we can only think the armed homeowner is thankful to be safe and unharmed after stopping the threat.
