Senate Holds The Line On 2A Rights

The legislation had a seemingly benign title—the “Restoring Americans’ Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act.” But, if passed, H.R. 3762 would have empowered the Department of Justice to deny gun sales to those on the government’s terror watch list. In other words, it would have turned the “no-fly” list into a “no-guns” list as well. For more background, Colion Noir discusses the terror watch list here.

Fortunately, the bill proposed by long-time anti-gun activist Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., failed on Thursday by a vote of 45-54 in the pro-gun Senate. Also failing was the dusted-off Manchin-Toomey “universal” background check bill that would ban private transfers of guns between friends and family members. It was defeated by a vote of 47-50, and received fewer votes than when it debuted two years ago.

We applaud these wins, and offer a big thank you to the Senate for standing on the side of freedom.
