Illegal Seizures Sweeping America

A natural disaster. A neighbor’s grievance. A doctor’s restraining order. Persons accused—not convicted, simply accused—of domestic violence crimes.

All of these situations have resulted in illegal seizures of individual guns. Without good or just cause, guns were confiscated and, almost without exception, never returned. Instead, they were destroyed or sold by the law enforcement agencies that took them in the first place.

This disturbing and deceptive tactic seems to be increasing in frequency across our nation. And it violates not one amendment, but two. “The Second Amendment is protected by the U.S. Constitution, and private property is protected under the Fifth Amendment,” reminds Donald Kilmer, California civil rights attorney. “Government cannot take property without just compensation and due process.”
