Hot Air In The Windy City

posted on May 12, 2015

Never one to miss an opportunity to draw attention to himself and bash private gun ownership, Jesse Jackson took to the streets of Chicago last weekend to call for banning guns—ironically guns that are already illegal to own there.

“There’s no place in this city for AK-47s,” Jackson said. “There’s no place in these cities for automatic weapons. Street gangs are more armed than the police are. Nobody is secure ‘til all of us are secure.” What Jackson—who puts the “Windy” in the term Windy City—failed to mention is that Cook County’s “assault weapons” law already bans ownership of AK-47s. Of course, such information doesn’t fit his anti-gun, anti-gun-owner narrative.

At least, though, Jackson got one thing correct. He was wearing a cap emblazoned with “Mothers Against Guns”—the name Bloomberg-funded Moms Demand Action should actually go by.
