Oklahoma Governor Goes With The Gun Grabbers

posted on May 13, 2015

SB 41 was a popular bill in the Oklahoma legislature, sailing past the House 88-4 and the Senate 39-7. The measure, which prohibits private entities from banning guns at events held at parks, recreational areas and fairgrounds, should have been a shoo-in. Instead, Republican Gov. Mary Fallin shot it down.

Fallin apparently fell for the rhetoric of the Greater OKC Chamber of Commerce, who sent out an “important alert” urging citizens to “protect OKC events.” They falsely warned that if the law went into effect, the state could lose major events and millions of dollars in a loss that would be “devastating for the community.”

As Fallin’s signature was saying one thing with her veto, her statement was saying another, declaring her strong support for Second Amendment rights. Yeah, right.
