Common Sense Prevails In Louisiana

Louisiana House Bill 446, which will allow public school districts to allocate funding for gun safety training for elementary school students, has soared through the state legislature. The House approved it by a vote of 93-3, while the Senate agreed by 38-1. It was then unanimously concurred by the House and sent to Gov. Bobby Jindal.

HB 446 designates NRA’s Eddie Eagle GunSafe® Program as its primary inspiration, although the final form of the bill allows schools to use alternative curricula. While guns are the subject of a highly polarized debate in America, it is comforting to see that gun safety—particularly for our children—is something that can inspire overwhelming bipartisan support.
