posted on July 10, 2015

A Hatboro, Pa., town official and concealed handgun permit holder chased down an alleged bank robber Wednesday morning and, when the suspect advanced upon him, fired two shots, subduing the man and leading to the alleged robber’s arrest, police say.

According to media sources, the robbery occurred at TD Bank, 256 York Road, where a man produced a note demanding, “Give me 2,500 or I’ll start shooting ...” The alleged robber was outside the bank when borough councilman George Forgeng, 60, who witnessed the dye pack explode, chased the suspect about a quarter-mile, urging bystanders to call 911.

The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Kevin Phillip Johnson Way, was shot in the arm and hand and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, where he was expected to be charged with robbery, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and simple assault. At this writing, no charges have been filed against the armed citizen.
