Violent Crime Surges In L.A.

posted on July 10, 2015

Los Angeles is the latest big city reporting an uptick in violent crime this year, following a steady decline in crime since 2003.

Through the first half of the year, crime in L.A. jumped 12.7 percent, with much larger increases in some areas. In the Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Division, which includes parts of downtown, Chinatown and Skid Row, violent crime jumped a whopping 67 percent compared to the same period last year. And several other areas of the city saw increases in the 20- to 40-percent range.

Unfortunately for L.A. residents, they live in an area where the possibility of armed self-defense is greatly restricted. Too bad the violent criminals don’t follow the same punitive firearm laws.
