A collection of quotes from this week’s Tower of 2A Babble.
“There’s absolutely no doubt that we are alive today … because of the Second Amendment, because of my husband, his focus and dedication, and the fact that we had that legal gun with us.” — Former CNN anchor Lynne Russell in a Fox News interview, discussing her husband’s shootout with an armed attacker at an Albuquerque hotel.
“Most of the time people with guns are shooting each other.” — Anti-gun Fox News commentator Juan Williams on the program “The Five,” discussing the Lynne Russell incident. Apparently he’s never been to the range on a busy weekend.
“Gun possessors are potential murderers.” — Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy, apparently lumping Right-to-Carry permit holders in with armed, violent criminals.
“I did a double take when I saw the ad for this shirt right on the front page. I just thought it was sad that a major retailers like J.C. Penney would want its brand associated with something that advocates, glorifies gun violence.” — Anti-gun mom Rita Richardson, calling for removal of a tank top with the words “Suns Out, Guns Out” from J.C. Penney shelves. Of course, the shirt was talking about biceps, not firearms.
“Welcome to Greenleaf, Idaho. This ls Not A Gun Free Zone.” — Message on five signs to be placed at the entrances to the small Idaho town, warning criminals that residents there are prepared to defend themselves.
“Then suddenly I heard the boom, boom, boom three times. … I lit up a cigarette and walked away.” — Francisco Sanchez, seven-time felon who has been deported five times, on murdering Kathryn Steinle early this month in San Francisco, a so-called “sanctuary city.” Sanchez claims he found the gun, later learned to have been stolen from a federal agent, and that it “went off.”
