Homeowner’s Son Halts Home Invasion

Residents in upscale Lakemont say it’s normally a quiet neighborhood, but that wasn’t the case on Thursday, when gunshots broke the silence in the Fayetteville, Ga., subdivision.

A man in his 20s was at home with a friend just before 3 p.m. when he thought he heard someone trying to break in. From a window, he could see a man with a gun trying to enter the locked garage. The resident ran to get his own gun, but when he came back downstairs, the suspect had moved to a window at the back of the house. He had just made it inside when the resident shot him four times.

Police who questioned the resident say he was unharmed, but remained quite shaken up. “He’s in shock from the … extremely traumatic incident,” Fayetteville Police Lt. Mike Whitlow told reporters.

An investigation into the suspect’s motives remains ongoing.
