Seattle Looks For High-Profile Legal Help In Court Battle

Having been sued by the NRA and other gun-rights groups over its new sales tax on guns and ammunition, the city of Seattle, Wash., is slated to receive help from a big name in the legal industry. The firm of Steptoe & Johnson, based out of Washington, D.C., has announced that it will provide representation for the city for free.

While the city claims that the measure falls under its taxing authority, the plaintiffs point to a Washington state law prohibiting unauthorized local ordinances regulating firearms.
