LtCol Oliver North, well-known warrior and hero, is calling out President Barack Obama for his foreign and military policy, with an eye toward change in the 2016 elections. LtCol North is featured in one of the latest Freedom’s Safest Place videos.
“The young Americans who raised their hands to fight radical Islamic terror deserve a commander-in-chief as courageous as they are,” North says, directly addressing President Obama and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. “They volunteered to fight an enemy you won’t name … and many gave their limbs and lives to win ground you surrendered. These are my heroes, willing to fight and die for my freedom. And I demand a commander-in-chief worthy of such sacrifice.”

SSA isn’t the first agency to adopt this tactic. The Veterans Administration has already implemented a similar program that’s led to 177,000 veterans being denied their constitutional rights based on their inability to manage financial affairs.
“The 5 million members of the NRA stand alongside Congressman Johnson in this fight to protect the children, parents and grandparents who would fall victim to this back-door gun control scheme,” said NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris W. Cox. “The Obama administration will stop at nothing to strip as many people as possible of their Second Amendment rights.”
Florida Legislative Panels Clear Campus Carry Bill
Legislation in the Florida House and Senate that would end the state’s moratorium on the Right to Carry on college campuses was approved by criminal justice committees in both chambers Wednesday, clearing the way for consideration by the Tallahassee statehouse.
Passage of the reform would correct the current situation on college campuses, “where murderers, rapists and shooters can commit crimes without fear of being harmed by their victims,” said former NRA President Marion Hammer, who leads the Unified Sportsmen of Florida, which has strenuously supported the bill.

Elementary School Trains Students To Throw Books At Gunmen
While many schools are allowing staff with permits to carry a gun to protect themselves and their students, a Heath, Ohio, school has instituted a rather novel approach to dealing with an active shooter—and they’re finding many parents aren’t on the same page.
Dean Spencer, whose two children attend Stevenson Elementary, told Fox 28 he was shocked when his daughter told him her class was instructed to throw books at an armed gunman. “To give them advice or commands to throw things at someone with a gun, it’s absurd. It’s insane,” he said.
Officials confirmed that 430 third-through-fifth graders at Stevenson were trained to use this tactic, saying “everything is about student safety”—an outlandish claim considering they’re recommending students armed with nothing more than a dog-eared copy of “Superfudge” to approach and engage an armed assailant.
The Spencers are reportedly withdrawing both students from Stevenson, and may pursue legal action over the policy.
New Study Confirms Where Criminals Get Their Guns
We previously reported a study by researchers in the University of Chicago Crime Lab that surveyed inmates at the Cook County Jail about where they acquired firearms. Now the team has corroborated its findings with a second study that examined data provided from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) and the Chicago Police Department.
This supplementary study found that “dirty dealers”—sellers who provide guns to individuals they know to be unable to pass a background check—accounted for less than 5 percent of guns winding up in the hands of gang members. Instead, most gang members received guns from friends or through straw purchases. This pair of studies emphasizes how little most gun-control measures would affect the normal channels through which career criminals get their hands on firearms.
Convenience Store Clerk Scares Off Armed Assailant
A Frankfort, Ill., gas station clerk used a handgun to foil an attempted armed robbery in the early morning hours Tuesday. According to the Will County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a call from a Shell gas station around 3 a.m. about the attempted robbery.
The clerk reported that a man who was about 6 feet tall and 175 pounds, wearing a black ski mask and black clothing, walked into the store and pointed a .38-caliber handgun at him. The clerk told the suspect to leave and produced a handgun to defend himself, prompting the would-be robber to flee on foot.
The incident is still under investigation, and the Will County Sheriff’s Office is reviewing the video surveillance footage. Deputies are actively working with law enforcement from the surrounding areas to identify and capture the suspect.
