Stopping Obama’s Social Security Gun Grab

posted on September 18, 2015

Rep. Sam Johnson, R-Texas, introduced a bill on Wednesday designed to halt the Obama administration’s efforts to deny millions of Social Security recipients their firearm rights. The Social Security Beneficiary 2nd Amendment Rights Protection Act prohibits the use of determinations made by the Social Security Administration (SSA) from being used as an adjudication of mental defective.

SSA isn’t the first agency to adopt this tactic. The Veterans Administration has already implemented a similar program that’s led to 177,000 veterans being denied their constitutional rights based on their inability to manage financial affairs.

“The 5 million members of the NRA stand alongside Congressman Johnson in this fight to protect the children, parents and grandparents who would fall victim to this back-door gun control scheme,” said NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris W. Cox. “The Obama administration will stop at nothing to strip as many people as possible of their Second Amendment rights.”
