More Gross Injustice In New Jersey

“I did my research, and I didn’t do anything wrong. The police knew I wasn’t out to commit a crime with the gun—they knew it. And New Jersey is not any safer for arresting myself or anyone in a similar situation.”

Chiropractor Mia Higginbotham just wanted to take her legally owned firearm from New Jersey, where she previously lived, to her home in Florida. She and her husband researched the Transportation Security Administration rules and were following the instructions to the letter of the law. But in the blink of an eye, she found herself arrested—not charged with a federal crime, but charged with a second-degree New Jersey felony punishable by five years in prison.
