Tennessee Senior With Gun Sends Intruders Running

A 74-year-old man entered the Athens, Tenn., police station Friday morning to report a robbery. According to the Decatur Daily, the elderly man told officers that a friend stopped by his residence Thursday accompanied by two women, identified by police as Jodi Strange and Mary Beard. The women asked to borrow $25, but he told them no because he didn’t know them.

The women later returned uninvited with another man, Vantella Malone. Malone grabbed the victim around the neck and told him to “tell them where the rest of the money was or he was going to hurt him bad.” The women allegedly started searching the home for money.

The victim then reached into his pocket, pulled out a pistol and aimed at Malone’s face. The pistol did not fire, but sent the suspects running from the home with $320. Athens police arrested the three suspects Friday afternoon, charging each with second-degree robbery.
