2A Tax Holiday Brings Bargains To The Bayou State

posted on September 5, 2015

If you’re in Louisiana this weekend, you’re in luck: The annual Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday runs today and tomorrow, giving you the opportunity to save on a number of hunting and shooting-related items that, let’s face it, you were going to buy anyway.

Whether you’re looking at a new AR, some 5.11 gear, some new eyes and ears, and several boxes of ammo for competitive shooting; camo, shotguns, boots, a treestand, scopes and decoys for your son or daughter’s first hunt; or a concealable handgun, holster and ammo for self-defense, you won’t owe a penny to Uncle Sam.

Local retailers benefit, too: Lindsey Simmons Roberts of Simmons’ Sporting Goods calls it “a really good thing for our community,” saying shoppers even travel from Arkansas, Mississippi and Texas to find deals.

“Our whole store is hunting and fishing, so our whole store will be on sale,” she told The News Star.
