Virginian Defends Home From Invaders

posted on November 1, 2016

A man and woman were in their Henrico County, Va., home when two men came knocking at 2 a.m. They told the homeowner someone had hit his car, but investigators say it was simply a ploy to lure him outside.

That’s when police say they stormed into the home in an attempted robbery. When the homeowner heard the suspects fighting with the woman, he charged back inside the house, grabbed his gun and opened fire.

Officers responding to the scene told WTVR CBS 6 the suspects fled, but were quickly apprehended. They were both escorted to a nearby hospital for treatment of life-threatening gunshot wounds, but one suspect died a short time later from his injuries. A neighbor told reporters he had seen both suspects earlier in the day, and, “Later on that night, I heard, ‘Pow, pow, pow, pow!’ Then I looked out the window and saw [the] fire department, ambulance.”
