Newsweek issued a national recall Wednesday for 125,000 copies of its magazine that it had prematurely shipped to newsstands with Hillary Clinton pictured on the cover beneath the headline “Madame President,” the New York Postreports.
“Like everybody else, we got it wrong,” said Tony Romando of Topix Media, which partners with Newsweek to publish its special issues. Newsweek had produced two versions of the commemorative issue—one for Clinton and one headlined “President Trump”—but late last week, believing that Clinton would win, Topix Media shipped only the Clinton commemoratives.
Newsweek believes the Trump version will sell even better than the Clinton version, with 150,000 copies en route and more to be printed after that. “We expect it to sell very well as there is obviously a great demand,” Romando said.
