This revolver model was manufactured from 1856 to 1865, and approximately 2,900 were produced. Although the gun was large, heavy and unwieldy, it went on to become popular during the Civil War, where it was lethal in close-range battles.

You can see this gun—either originals or reproductions—in movies including “Cold Mountain,” “12 Monkeys” and “The Quick and the Dead.” Originals of the firearm are collector’s items today and can fetch anywhere from $15,000 and up—however, reproductions are still available for purchase.
