With Thanksgiving only a few days away, it makes sense that this week’s “From the Editor” column would take on a tone of thankfulness.
There’s no doubt that I often take too many of life’s blessings for granted, and it’s likely that at least a few A1F Daily readers do the same. I’m referring to blessings like faith, family, friends and freedom.
After all, we are fortunate to live in the greatest, freest country to ever exist on the planet, thanks to wise founders who put safeguards in place to protect our individual liberties. Thanks to them, we can freely worship where and when we want, speak or write freely about issues important to us, travel freely from state to state, associate with whomever we please, and basically go about living our individual version of the American dream—life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
And, quite significantly, we can own and carry firearms for protection of ourselves and our families. While some would like to see this right swept into the dustbin of history, NRA members and most other gun owners understand the foundational role the Second Amendment plays—and the important role it will continue to play as we move forward.… we are fortunate to live in the greatest, freest country to ever exist on the planet …
In fact, our Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms is the one right that protects all of our other liberties—that’s why we named our magazine America’s 1st Freedom nearly 18 years ago when we published the very first issue. When it comes down to it, there is little doubt that without the Second Amendment our rights would gradually be pushed aside, one at a time, as those with more political power than they should have seek to expand that power more and more.
Along with the blessings mentioned above, I’m also thankful for you—the readers of America’s 1st Freedom magazine and A1F Daily website who depend on us for the latest in Second Amendment news and views. You’ve entrusted us with providing you the vital information and analysis you need to remain engaged in the ongoing discussion of gun rights in America. And for that we are grateful.
This holiday season, let’s all be thankful for the many blessings we enjoy as free Americans. And let’s rededicate ourselves to fighting the battles necessary to ensure that freedom is never diminished.
