Tim Kaine, Others “Jump The Gun” Over Ohio State Attack

“Deeply saddened by the senseless act of gun violence at Ohio State this morning.” That’s Hillary Clinton’s running mate, Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia, tweeting after 11 Ohio State students were attacked with a car and a knife.

Kaine was joined by other progressives who brought guns into a knife fight:

California Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom: “My thoughts are w/Ohio state this AM. We cannot let an average of 1 school shooting/wk be the normal in America.”

Moms Demand Action’s Shannon Watts: “Other nations protect their students. America gives dangerous people guns and asks students to defend themselves.”

Vox: “Ohio State University shooting; what we know,” accompanied by 18 pre-prepared gun violence charts.

States United To Prevent Gun Violence: “Think it’s been a while since the last mass shooting? Think again.”

And finally, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, couldn’t even identify the university: “Today is yet another sad day in our country because of a senseless shooting at an Ohio State University.”

Mistakes are to be expected from those whose playbook encourages them to rush to the microphones after a tragedy. But apologies? Let’s just say we aren’t holding our breath.
