Ohio Family Fights Off, Then Holds Home Intruder At Gunpoint

A mother and father, their two children and three of their nephews returned home from a Christmas dinner only to find an unexpected visitor—one who wasn’t sporting a red suit and white beard. The family surprised 43-year-old Robert Molihan Jr., who was attempting to steal firearms from the home.

Miami County, Ohio, Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Randy Slusher told WHIO-TV that the homeowner began to struggle with the intruder, while the mother and kids grabbed the guns away from Molihan. At that point, the son loaded one of the shotguns and quickly put a stop to the skirmish.

The father then held the home invader at gunpoint until officers arrived. Investigators said that Molihan was aware the weapons were in the residence, but they did not elaborate. The suspect allegedly also had an accomplice who was to pick him up, but that person has yet to be identified.
