Maryland Democrats Push More Gun Control

posted on February 16, 2016

Democratic lawmakers in the “Free State” last week proposed a slate of new gun-control laws, including one banning firearm possession at public college and university campuses, and another barring Maryland state police from issuing gun permits to anyone on the so-called terrorist watch list, regardless of whether or not they have been convicted or even accused of any crime.

Maryland House Speaker Michael E. Busch, Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller Jr. and Attorney General Brian E. Frosh, all Democrats, staged a news conference to proclaim their support for the proposals, promising they would make communities safer.

Unfortunately, these bills are not only redundant (and therefore pointless)—they would also block law-abiding citizens from exercising their constitutional rights while doing nothing to improve public safety.
