Bloomberg Bashes America’s “Broken” Two-Party System

posted on February 20, 2016

Does America have a two-party tyranny? Michael Bloomberg thinks so. Amid speculation that he will enter the presidential race, the former New York City mayor discussed the nation’s “broken” two-party system that he says “answers to lobbyists and special interests instead of the American people.” Which, of course, begs the question: Since when has the megalomaniac billionaire been interested in the opinions of the American people? Surely not during his mayoral term.

Bloomberg’s bashing of the parties—“America has lost faith with its institutions, but instead of fixing it, they are trying to exploit it”—will undoubtedly set the stage for his entrance into the presidential campaign under an Independent ticket. However, his “vanity candidacy,” as USA Today terms it, may not pan out quite out the way he hopes. A recent USA Today/Suffolk University poll showed Bloomberg in dead last, well behind Trump and Sanders.
