Gavin Newsom’s Empty NRA Claim

California Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom is at it again. The politician who never met a restrictive gun-control law he didn’t like is back to attacking the NRA. During a meeting with The Sacramento Bee editorial board in February, Newsom said, “After San Bernardino … people are fed up with the NRA.”

Newsom went after the NRA last year, too, accusing them of intimidating politicians. “But you can’t intimidate the public,” he said. “That’s why we’re bringing this directly to the public.”

Now, the public has spoken. And they’ve shopped—scooping up a record number of firearms in 2015. After the San Bernardino attacks, Californians drove gun sales even higher—with some dealers reporting seeing their business triple and cautioning the spike was drying up supply.

Fed up with the NRA? Fed up with exploitive politicians seems more like it.
