Who Is Pushing Gun Control In Maine?

posted on March 25, 2016

We’ve covered the influx of Michael Bloomberg-affiliated funds to Maine, as the state became an important Second Amendment battleground. But as the fight to put “universal” background checks on the ballot enters a new legislative session, the ostensibly “grassroots” anti-gunners are coming out of the woodwork. In an op-ed published in The Maine Wire, NRA-ILA media liaison Lars Dalseide asks, “Who Are These People, Anyways?”

The answer won’t come as a surprise. Maine’s Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense, which reported almost $800,000 in contributions, is funded almost entirely from a source outside the state—namely their parent organization, Bloomberg’s Everytown. Dalseide says that far from enjoying local support or serving local needs, Maine’s Moms Demand Action “… is similar to a franchise much like McDonalds or Starbucks.”

The truth is that Maine residents aren’t clamoring for gun control—New York tycoon billionaire Michael Bloomberg is. And it’s about time that, just like Virginia, Maine sends him packing.
