Michael Bloomberg Won’t Run For President

posted on March 9, 2016

Former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced Monday in an article on Bloomberg View that a 2016 presidential run is “not a risk I can take in good conscience.”

Bloomberg made the right choice, but not for the reasons he lays out. Putting aside the audaciousness of claiming that at this late stage, on a third-party ticket, he could do well enough at the polls to keep any candidate from winning a majority of electoral votes, Bloomberg’s expressed desire of wanting to end partisan politics is laughable. He follows his hypocritical “why-can’t-we-all-just-get-along” plea with attacks on Donald Trump and Ted Cruz, saying his run could “play a role in electing a candidate who would weaken our unity and darken our future.”

However, given his Second Amendment hatred, love of far-left-wing policies and using his millions to subvert the democratic process, we can think of few candidates more likely to “weaken our unity and darken our future” than Bloomberg.
