A man broke into a Bessemer, Ala., home on Sunday afternoon, only to later find himself staring down the business end of a handgun.
According to local police, the man kicked in the door of the house around 3:30 in the afternoon. Unfortunately for the crook, the homeowner’s son, who lives nearby, saw him kick in the door, grabbed a gun and followed the intruder into the house. “He ordered the offender out of the residence and told him to (lie) on the ground,” a spokesman for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said. “This is where deputies found him when they arrived.”
Authorities later booked the intruder into Jefferson County Jail on charges of burglary, attempted burglary, possession of drug paraphernalia, and theft and criminal mischief.
During Obama’s Term, Gun Industry Has Grown 158 Percent
Whenever an anti-gun president is elected, Americans become justifiably concerned for their rights and prepare accordingly. Barack Obama, with his pen, phone and desire to take away our guns, has had an enormous impact on the gun industry.
In its 2016 Economic Impact Report, the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) notes that the total economic impact of the firearms and ammunition industry in the United States increased from $19.1 billion in 2008 to $49.3 billion in 2015. During that same period, the number of full-time jobs related to the firearm industry rose from 166,000 to nearly 288,000.
“Our industry is proud to be one of the truly bright spots in our economy as an unprecedented number of Americans have chosen to exercise their fundamental right to keep and bear arms and to safely enjoy the shooting sports,” said Stephen L. Sanetti, NSSF president and chief executive officer.
Two Senators Target Operation Choke Point
Two U.S. senators are looking to put an end to the Justice Department’s Operation Choke Point because of the program’s unfair targeting of law-abiding firearm businesses.
Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, plan to introduce legislation that would require the Obama administration to put an end to the program, which, as we just reported last week, continues its ongoing assault against legal businesses in a legal industry. The measure would ban federal agencies that oversee banks from requesting or ordering banks to terminate customer accounts “unless the regulator has material reason.”
“Under President Obama’s reign, the DOJ has abandoned its longstanding tradition of staying out of politics and has instead become a partisan arm of the White House,” Cruz told the Daily Signal. “The Obama administration initiated Operation Choke Point to punish law-abiding small businesses that don’t align with the president’s political leanings. The DOJ should not be abusing its power by trying to bankrupt American citizens for exercising their constitutional rights.”
Shock Jock Stern Schools Producer On The Second Amendment
Like him or hate him, radio personality, author and one-time New York gubernatorial candidate Howard Stern has roasted more than his share of guests and callers. But when his longtime producer started on an anti-gun rant recently, the shock jock put him on blast.
Last week, Gary Dell’Abate (aka Baba Booey), who has been with “The Howard Stern Show” for its entire 30-year history, claimed there should be a limit on the number of guns a person can have. After Stern ripped that argument to shreds, Dell’Abate countered by asking how much ammunition is needed to defend one’s home. That’s when Stern hit upon the problem with the vast majority of gun-control legislation:
“What’s the difference how much ammunition he has? You’re assuming he is a criminal, but he’s a law-abiding citizen! … Are you talking about the criminal element? They already got all kinds of f------ guns!”
Vox Flop: Comedian Turns Criminal To Make Anti-Gun Point
Comedian Samantha Bee, host of “Full Frontal,” thought it would be humorous to document her experience in trying to obtain an Eddie Eagle costume. Eddie Eagle is the mascot for NRA’s longstanding and highly regarded gun safety program for children.
Bee set out on her mission with the conclusion pre-determined: Demonstrate that getting a gun is easier than getting a costume. Never mind the apples-to-oranges comparison of a civil right vs. a copyright. Or that the NRA sells neither of these items.
Bee was so bent on providing her point that there was no line, or law, she wasn’t willing to cross. Straw purchase? Check. Misrepresent the gun buying process? Check. Create a business under false pretenses? Check. But what’s a felony or two when it comes to comedy, right?
Bee’s mocking of a successful gun safety program—while at the same time promoting a blatantly irresponsible use of firearms—misses the mark entirely.
Vote Allows Concealed Carry On California Campus
The school board of California’s Kingsburg High School unanimously voted to allow concealed carry on school grounds effective immediately. The new ruling allows as many as five staff members to carry guns on campus and into classrooms. Kingsbury is the second school in the state to allow carry on campus, joining Folsom Cordova Unified.
Superintendent Randy Morris told The Fresno Bee he understands the ruling is difficult for some, but it was another opportunity to keep students safer. “I am a proponent of the Second Amendment, and I’m also the biggest proponent of protecting the kids,” Morris said.
He noted that training for staff members must be completed before they can carry, and armed staff members will be anonymous—only Morris will know who is carrying. Kingsburg police Chief Neil Dadian, who helped create the policy, added, “I think what they’re doing is everything they possibly can to protect their students, and God bless them for that.”
