Vote Allows Concealed Carry On California Campus

posted on April 14, 2016

The school board of California’s Kingsburg High School unanimously voted to allow concealed carry on school grounds effective immediately. The new ruling allows as many as five staff members to carry guns on campus and into classrooms. Kingsbury is the second school in the state to allow carry on campus, joining Folsom Cordova Unified.

Superintendent Randy Morris told The Fresno Bee he understands the ruling is difficult for some, but it was another opportunity to keep students safer. “I am a proponent of the Second Amendment, and I’m also the biggest proponent of protecting the kids,” Morris said.

He noted that training for staff members must be completed before they can carry, and armed staff members will be anonymous—only Morris will know who is carrying. Kingsburg police Chief Neil Dadian, who helped create the policy, added, “I think what they’re doing is everything they possibly can to protect their students, and God bless them for that.”
