Mark Kelly’s Deceptive Editorial Proves Time Magazine Will Print Anything

In a Thursday Time editorial, Americans for Responsible Solutions Co-Founder Mark Kelly became the latest to jump on the “gun-show loophole” bandwagon.

Kelly believes American laws are making us more susceptible to terrorism. But since he was only able to cite one American terrorist attack committed with firearms, he had to use examples from Mumbai, Nairobi and Paris to bolster his claims. Putting aside that American laws obviously don’t hold a lot of water in those places, by doing this Kelly winds up disproving his own argument: All of those places have far stricter firearms laws than America, and the death tolls were much higher: 174 (Mumbai), 67 (Nairobi) and 142 (Paris), compared with 14 in San Bernardino.

He then states 76 percent of NRA members support using secret terrorist watch lists to prohibit gun purchases. Even liberal media outlets admit this idea is ridiculous—but there’s also the small matter of Kelly not having access to NRA’s membership rolls

If Kelly’s “solutions” can only be justified by faulty arguments and manufactured statistics, how “responsible” can they actually be?
