A critical piece of pro-gun legislation has been approved by the Michigan House Local Government Committee and now goes to the full House of Representatives for consideration.
HB 4795, sponsored by Chairman Lee Chatfield, is important legislation aimed at protecting law-abiding gun owners from unlawful constraints on their right to keep and bear arms imposed by insubordinate local units of government.
Over the last few months, Bloomberg-funded gun-control groups have spent money and expended resources in Lansing spreading misinformation and outright lies about HB 4795. It is time for law-abiding gun owners to make their collective voices heard.

Gun Sales Continue To Set Records In April
More firearms background checks were conducted last month than during any April on record, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). By the end of the month, a total of 2,145,865 NICS checks had been conducted—an increase of more than 400,000 over April 2014, which previously held the top spot.
Firearm-related background checks have been on a record-setting streak since last May, with each month racking up a larger number of checks than during the same month in previous years. This persistent uptick in sales is expected to push 2016 into the top slot for NICS checks, moving 2015 down to number two.
Experts cite continued calls for increased gun control from President Barack Obama and Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton, coupled with the increasing threat of terrorism both in the United States and abroad, as being the primary drivers behind the growth in sales. It’s believed that if Clinton wins in November, sales will likely spike even further.
Amy Schumer Tries Selling Gun Control As “Gun Safety”
Amy Schumer continues to take aim at the Second Amendment. In a recent television sketch, Schumer sells handguns on a “Gun Show” infomercial, where a caller complains he can’t buy a gun because of his violent felony record. That’s when Schumer says, “You can absolutely get a gun if you have several felonies, as long as you buy it on the Internet or at a gun show.”
The bit takes an obvious swing at tired “gun show loophole” arguments, as well as an inflammatory—and deceitful—narrative of selling guns to the mentally ill, the blind, children and terrorists. But facts aren’t important to Schumer, who tweets, “We’re not interesting in controlling law abiding citizens’ guns,” and who tells journalists to use the term “gun safety” instead of “gun control.” Schumer spinning her obvious gun-control platform as one of safety is ironic, as the National Rifle Association is the true and acknowledged leader in firearms safety. Perhaps Schumer should become a member?
College Settles Lawsuit With Student Over Pro-Gun Message
It began as a simple recruitment effort. In February of last year, Nicole Sanders was trying to enlist fellow students at Blinn College to join a new organization she was forming entitled Young Americans for Liberty. Toward that end, she and a friend stood in front of the student center and held up signs—one read “Defend Gun Rights on Campus.”
As she was wrapping up for the day, Sanders was approached by an administrator and three armed campus police officers who told her she needed special permission to recruit for the club. They even questioned whether promoting a pro-gun message on campus was allowed.
Undeterred, Sanders firmly stood her ground. She also filed a lawsuit against the school. Tuesday, she got her vindication when the Texas college settled the suit by agreeing to revise their restrictive policies. They also agreed to pay Sanders $50,000 in damages and legal fees.
OK Gun Owners Urged To Contact Committee Members Today
Members have been selected to make up the conference committees considering Oklahoma’s House Bill 3098 and House Joint Resolution 1009, and they need to hear from interested Oklahoma residents now.
Sponsored by Republican state Rep. Jeff Coody, HB 3098 would allow for the open carry of a handgun without having to obtain a permit. HB 3098 does nothing to change the current permitting process in the state of Oklahoma for those individuals who still prefer to conceal carry a firearm and receive reciprocity in other states.

Armed Citizen Stops Store Robbery
An armed man who tried to rob a Memphis, Tenn., business on Tuesday was shot and killed in the process, leaving others in the crowded shop unhurt.
According to local media, the 25-year-old man tried to rob the crowded Extreme Gear store in the middle of the day. But before he could take anything, he was shot by either an armed customer or employee, ending the robbery.
“The young people don't believe in nothing but to take, and that's it,” Reverend Amos Connors, who was at the location to pick up a suit, told WMC Action News. “God didn't put us here to take from one another. I'm not going to take nothing from you, because it don't belong to me.”
