OK Gun Owners Urged To Contact Committee Members Today

posted on May 6, 2016

Members have been selected to make up the conference committees considering Oklahoma’s House Bill 3098 and House Joint Resolution 1009, and they need to hear from interested Oklahoma residents now.

Sponsored by Republican state Rep. Jeff Coody, HB 3098 would allow for the open carry of a handgun without having to obtain a permit. HB 3098 does nothing to change the current permitting process in the state of Oklahoma for those individuals who still prefer to conceal carry a firearm and receive reciprocity in other states.

Also sent to conference committee in April was the Right to Keep and Bear Arms constitutional amendment, House Joint Resolution 1009. HJR 1009 makes a critical improvement to the current Right to Keep and Bear Arms amendment in Oklahoma’s constitution.
