During an interview in the Oval Office this week after the Orlando terrorist mass murder, President Barack Obama proudly exhibited his unmitigated incompetence at discussing anything to do with firearms when he said, “It appears that one of those weapons he was able to just carry out of the store, an assault rifle, a handgun, a Glock which had a lot of clips in it ...”
You can see that same ignorance and deception throughout America’s media Fourth Estate, such as when the Washington Post’s Richard Cohen uses his claimed military experience to claim that the semi-automatic AR-15 is no different from the fully automatic M-16 he used in the Army, or when a New York Daily News writer claimed that shooting an AR-15 is like shooting a “bazooka,” that it “bruised my shoulder” and that the trauma of firing a .223 caused the poor reporter to experience “post traumatic stress disorder.”
Gersh Kuntzman wrote, “The recoil bruised my shoulder. The brass shell casings disoriented me as they flew past my face. The smell of sulfur and destruction made me sick. The explosions—loud like a bomb—gave me a temporary form of PTSD. For at least an hour after firing the gun just a few times, I was anxious and irritable.”
Kuntzman left gun owners irritable:
Held correctly, the AR-15 firing the .223 is not bruising.
There is no sulfur in modern gunpowder.
What does “destruction” smell like, anyway?
Unless he’s left-handed, no shell casings flew by his face (perhaps that explains Number 1).
Exploiting a very real malady such as PTSD for political gain is what’s really sickening.
Kuntzman added, “… it doesn’t take any imagination to see dozens of bodies falling in front of your barrel.” No, it doesn’t take imagination; it takes a sick mind. Or an agenda.
Under FBI Investigation, Hillary Clinton Says Those Under FBI Investigation Forfeit Second Amendment Rights
While under “criminal investigation” for her reckless, dangerous and apparently illegal use of a private, unsecured email server to send and receive sensitive, classified documents, presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton said that persons under FBI investigation should not be able to lawfully purchase firearms.
On June 13, the day after the terrorist attack on the Orlando, Fla., Pulse nightclub, Clinton said, “If the FBI is watching you for suspected terrorist links, you shouldn’t be able to just go buy a gun with no questions asked.”
Although the FBI’s investigation of the Orlando terrorist killer ended three years ago, after the bureau concluded that he had committed no crime for which he could be charged, the FBI’s criminal investigation of Clinton’s activities appears far from finished.
Speaking Of Dishonesty—Meet Gov. Terry McAuliffe
In statements made Tuesday about the Orlando nightclub terror attack, Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe has again showed his penchant for twisting half-truths for his own gun-ban purposes.
“I’m all for background checks,” McAuliffe bragged. “Certain individuals should not have access to guns.” Of course, the terrorist murderer had passed several background checks, and everybody already knows that certain individuals shouldn’t have access to guns.
Not satisfied with his own ridiculous proclamation, McAuliffe added, “Red flags had already been raised about this individual. He had been on the no-fly list. How can someone be on the no-fly list and still be able to purchase a weapon?” Obviously the question is out of context, as the killer wasn’t on the list at the time, rather McAuliffe simply used it as a way to push for legislation that could trash due process for law-abiding Americans.
McAuliffe concluded by supporting a ban on semi-automatic rifles—while at the same time saying he was a strong supporter of the Second Amendment.
NRA Welcomes Trump Discussion On Terror Watch List
After Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he planned to visit with NRA leaders concerning the Terror Watch List, NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris W. Cox welcomed the meeting.
“We are happy to meet with Donald Trump,” Cox said. “The NRA’s position on this issue has not changed. The NRA believes that terrorists should not be allowed to purchase or possess firearms, period. Anyone on a terror watchlist who tries to buy a gun should be thoroughly investigated by the FBI and the sale delayed while the investigation is ongoing. If an investigation uncovers evidence of terrorist activity or involvement, the government should be allowed to immediately go to court, block the sale and arrest the terrorist.”
Cox said, however, that law-abiding Americans must retain due process of the law. “At the same time, due process protections should be put in place that allow law-abiding Americans who are wrongly put on a watchlist to be removed,” he said. “That has been the position of Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, and a majority of the U.S. Senate. Sadly, President Obama and his allies would prefer to play politics with this issue.”
California Democrats Advance 11 Gun-Control Bills
California gun-control lobbyists seemingly won’t be satisfied until all guns are banned outright in the state. State Democrats voted Tuesday to advance nearly a dozen anti-gun measures that include a mandate requiring gun owners to surrender or destroy any magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.
Representatives of the NRA and other gun-rights groups have opposed the legislative package, and testified that the bills will do nothing to improve safety and instead will create burdensome new rules for law-abiding gun owners. “They are utilizing tragedy to pass laws that will create more victims by disarming those who want only to defend themselves and their families,” said Craig J. DeLuz of the Firearms Policy Coalition.
The package of proposals—six Senate measures and five Assembly bills—will next be considered by the Assembly’s appropriations committee. The Senate bills would need to win approval on the Assembly floor before being sent to Gov. Jerry Brown for consideration.
Florida Homeless Woman Saves Herself With Firearm
A homeless woman in Gainesville, Fla., used her gun to defend herself against a man who was attacking her at a campsite.
According to local media reports, the woman called 911 last Thursday evening, and the dispatcher heard her yelling, “Get off of me,” before she was disconnected. When the dispatcher called back, the woman answered and said she had shot someone who was attacking her.
When they arrived at the scene, police said they found the woman and the man who had attacked her. Police say the woman’s injuries were defensive and that they believe she acted in self-defense.
