It was the perfect prescription for a robbery: A good guy with a gun.
A person wearing a ski mask and waving a gun entered a Waynesboro, Penn., pharmacy last Monday evening. He wanted drugs and money. But then the suspect's behavior was so violent and aggressive it caused an employee to take action, in fear for the lives of everyone in the store.
That’s when the employee drew his legally owned handgun and fired four rounds at the criminal, striking and injuring him. Another person inside the Antietam Pharmacy was able to subdue the robber until officers arrived. Police Chief Jim Soubier said, “Antietam Pharmacy has been the subject of armed robbery before. They know the drill. They know how to behave. I know these folks.”
The suspect was airlifted to a nearby trauma center, where he no doubt got a few of the drugs he was attempting to steal.
NRA’s Cox Responds To Senate Vote
NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris W. Cox had strong words for anti-gun senators whose political maneuvering prevented passage of legislation on Monday to prohibit terrorists from obtaining firearms.
“Today, the American people witnessed an embarrassing display in the United States Senate,” Cox said. “President Obama and his allies proved they are more interested in playing politics than addressing their failure to keep Americans safe from the threat of radical Islamic terrorism.
“We all agree that terrorists should not be allowed to purchase or possess firearms. We should all agree that law-abiding Americans who are wrongly put on a secret government list should not be denied their constitutional right to due process.”
Cox added that many senators did the right thing, despite intense anti-gun pressure. “We thank the majority of the senators for rejecting the gun-control proposals of Senators Feinstein and Murphy,” he said. “We applaud Senators Cornyn and Grassley for securing majorities for their common-sense proposals. We look forward to working with those interested in real solutions to keep the American people safe, including their right to defend themselves in the face of government failure.”
Gun-Control Sen. Chris Murphy Falls Into His Own Trap
In an interview with ABC’s Jonathan Karl, Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., attempted to explain why he was pushing gun-control proposals that would have no effect on stopping mass shootings.
Karl was relentless in his questioning: “Your proposal would have done nothing in the case of Orlando, it would have done nothing to stop the killing in San Bernardino. And in fact, it was unrelated to the killing in Newtown. So why are we focusing on things that have nothing to do with the massacres we’re responding to?”
Cornered, Murphy deflected: “We can’t get into that trap. I disagree, I think if this proposal had been into effect it may have stopped the shooting. But we can’t get into the trap in which we are forced to defend our proposal simply because it didn’t stop the last tragedy.”
By promoting gun-control proposals that wouldn’t stop any mass shootings, the only trap Murphy is avoiding is one he laid himself.
Obama DOJ Reverses Course And Un-Censors Orlando 911 Call Transcript
After censoring transcripts of the 911 call made by the Orlando terrorist mass murderer to redact references to ISIS and thereby white-out his motivation for the killings—to wage Islamic jihad—President Barack Obama’s Justice Department reversed its position Monday, releasing a transcript that actually names the terrorist leaders and organizations that inspired the killer.
The DOJ originally claimed the redaction of history was meant to prevent inspiring other would-be terrorists—but that’s plainly a whitewash. Since day one, Obama has been utterly loath to even name the ideology that drives 9/11 hijackers and suicide bombers and terrorist murderers, let alone do anything to confront them.
Instead of considering how their own slavish devotion to political correctness might have empowered and emboldened these terrorist extremists, Obama and his Democrat enablers try to deflect criticism by attacking the Second Amendment freedoms Americans rely on to protect themselves and their families. That’s outrageous.
Special Forces Association Rejects Calls For Gun Control
The Special Forces Association recently made its stance on gun control perfectly clear: Thanks, but no thanks. The national organization—which is comprised of members who once served in the U.S. Special Forces— offered a response to anti-gun advocacy from retired Army generals David Petraeus and Stanley McChrystal. Both recently teamed up with gun-control proponent Mark Kelly to form the so-called “Veterans Coalition for Common Sense.”
The Special Forces Association drew up a membership resolution during its annual convention last Saturday. Containing more common sense than anything you’ll hear from Petraeus’ and McChrystal’s group, the resolution confirms support of the “Constitution and all of its amendments, realizing that only the existence of the Second Amendment guarantees the freedom of the American people and that the Bill of Rights was written to delineate and restrict the power of government and not to restrict the powers and rights of the people or states.”
If Guns Are Illegal In England, Why Is Gun Crime On The Rise?
Last week as she was leaving a library in Birstall, England, 41-year-old MP Jo Cox was stabbed and shot in broad daylight. While murders in Britain unfortunately aren’t rare—homicides in England and Wales were up 14 percent last year—this tragedy underlines another alarming trend: a rise in gun crime.
While handguns have been effectively banned in England for two decades, gun crime rose 4 percent last year, with London recording a 10-percent increase. If England’s gun laws are working as well as Hillary Clinton and others say, where are these illegal guns coming from? Could it be that criminals across the pond, much like those in America, don’t obey gun laws any more than they do other laws?
Unfortunately, the disarmament of law-abiding citizens may have played a part in Cox’s fate: Witnesses say just before the murder, a good Samaritan saw what was about to happen and attempted to stop the assailant. But when the murderer pulled out a gun, the man—a law-abiding citizen armed only with bare hands—was forced to stand down.
