Florida Democrats Push For Special Session On Gun Control

Last week, Nancy Smith of Sunshine State News asked, “Is anybody else as disgusted as I am, watching Democrats race to erect their political podiums in the blood of the Orlando nightclub victims?” Proving her point, Florida Democrats are now attempting to stampede the legislature into a vote on whether or not to call a special session for gun control.

Democrat House member Dave Kerner is spearheading the effort to exploit the terrorist act and use it to push for more anti-gun legislation. So while memorial services and funerals continue for the 49 victims, Kerner is working frantically to persuade more than 32 members of the legislature to file letters with the secretary of state that ask him to force this poll.

We join you in your disgust, Ms. Smith. And we call for action to reject this shameless exploitation designed to further a political agenda in the wake of tragedy.

USE YOUR POWER!

Contact members of the Florida House and Senate and urge them to say NO to a special session and more gun control, and NO to blaming you for the act of a terrorist! You can find a complete click-to-email list of lawmakers at the end of this NRA-ILA feature.

Call Your Senators Now To Stop Anti-Gun Bills

NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action is warning American gun owners that further anti-freedom legislation could be considered in the U.S. Senate at any time.

Two anti-gun amendments failed in the Senate on Monday, but more anti-gun amendments are in the works. The anti-gunners in the Congress are continuing to blame you for the terrorist attack in Orlando—they continue to portray you and your firearm freedoms as the problem—and we can’t let them win!

And since the Obama administration’s failed foreign policy won’t protect you from radical Islamic terrorists, it’s critical we pass national concealed-carry reciprocity so the law-abiding can protect themselves.

USE YOUR POWER!

Please contact your U.S. senators immediately and let them know you oppose any new gun control and request they pass national concealed-carry reciprocity legislation. You can phone your U.S. senators at (202) 224-3121 or contact them by clicking here.

House Republicans Plan To Roll Back Restrictive D.C. Gun Laws

In the wake of the Orlando terror attack, House Republicans on Monday introduced steps to eliminate draconian gun-control laws in the District of Columbia. Since the U.S. Supreme Court struck down its handgun ban in District of Columbia v. Heller, the D.C. city council has gone to excessive lengths to continue to restrict gun rights.

Representatives Thomas Massie, R-Ky., and David Schweikert, R-Ariz., introduced measures that would block D.C. from enforcing multiple gun-control laws, including requiring residents to show “good reason” before issuing concealed-carry permits and enforcing gun-free zones.

“Gun control is not the solution. The only practical way to have prevented this tragedy is by eliminating gun-free zones where security is inadequate to protect law-abiding citizens who are otherwise capable, willing and endowed (by their Creator with the right) to defend themselves,” Massie wrote. “I introduced these amendments to reduce the likelihood of a similar tragedy in D.C.”

Florida Woman Stops Home Intruder With A Single Shot

A man comes to the door and asks to be let in. You say “no,” but he forces his way in anyway.

It’s a nightmare scenario for any homeowner, but it was a reality for an Ocala, Fla., woman last Sunday.

She was alone in her residence when an unidentified man smashed his way inside. Brian Spivey, Marion County sheriff’s captain, said the woman hid in the house while the man continued to look for her. That’s when she took matters into her own hands—in the form of a legally owned firearm—shooting the would-be attacker in the abdomen. The sheriff said that investigators did not know the name of the man, but charges will be pending. “We don’t know what his plans or motivation were,” said Spivey.

Fortunately, even the evilest intention can be stopped by a good woman with a gun.
