Will Couric’s “Under The Gun” Crew Wind Up Under Arrest?

posted on June 7, 2016

We’ve reported how some “creative” editing in Katie Couric’s pseudo-documentary “Under the Gun” wound up backfiring in a big way. While Couric issued a statement admitting the editing process was “misleading,” she stopped short of admitting what she’d essentially done was lie.

But according to a video obtained by Ammoland, she won’t be able to postpone that admission much longer. In it, director Stephanie Soechtig admits sending a Colorado producer to Arizona, where he “was able to buy [four firearms] without a background check in a matter of four hours. And that’s perfectly legal.”

Nope. Federal law prohibits purchasing a gun across state lines without going through a FFL in the buyer’s home state—that’s four felonies. If he bought the firearms for Soechtig, you can add four felony straw purchaser violations. (If it was more of a collaborative effort, there may be even more, as both Soechtig and the producer could be subject to conspiracy charges.)

While the extent of the crew’s law breaking will come out in time, we think it’s safe to say that eight seconds of silence might soon be the least of Couric’s worries.
