If you’re a law-abiding gun owner with a concealed-carry license, bring your firearm to work. That’s the message from Butler County, Ohio, Sheriff Richard Jones to his staff.
In light of recent attacks on police and a threat to one of his employees who had a Fraternal Order of Police emblem displayed on a license plate, Jones responded with a memo encouraging personnel to carry while within the department’s headquarters and while operating any sheriff’s office vehicles off-premises.
Jones also advised staff to exercise caution concerning their own personal safety. "We encourage our people to really rethink having any markings on their car that states you're a police officer,” said the sheriff. “It could be your spouse, it could be your kids driving the car."
Safety is paramount, he emphasized. “Every day, I fear for their lives,” said Jones. “Every day, every minute, every second.”
