An employee at a Las Vegas tattoo parlor shot and killed one of two intruders last Monday evening. According to a police report, two men entered the parlor and confronted the employee. The employee recognized them as acquaintances “EZ” and “Fern Dog,” and both of them were armed. They immediately attacked the employee, kicking him multiple times.
The employee told sheriff’s deputies “Fern Dog was so worked up” that he feared for his life. The arrest report says the employee momentarily escaped to the business safe, retrieving his own gun. Returning to the front of the store, the employee heard gun shots, then saw Fern Dog pointing his gun. After the employee heard another shot, he fired four to five rounds at Fern Dog while EZ, later identified as 28-year-old Eric Garcia, fled the store.
Fern Dog, whose name was Fernando Montano, died at the scene, and Garcia was apprehended a short time later.
Chris W. Cox: It’s A Lie That Clinton Won’t Take Our Guns
After speaking at a USA TODAY Newsmakers event during the Republican National Convention, NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris W. Cox recently sat down with USA TODAY's Susan Page. In the interview, he addressed why the presumptive Democratic presidential candidate is so dangerous.
“Hillary Clinton said that she’ll spend every minute of every day working to pass gun control,” Cox said. So when she follows that up by saying that she doesn’t want to take away guns from the law-abiding, “It’s another lie from Hillary Clinton.”
Cox said he takes Clinton at her word when she states that gun control is her number one priority. And he stresses the importance of this year’s election—not just for the next four years, but for decades to come—and notes that, “You could make a very valid argument that the Second Amendment is on the ballot in November.” Watch the interview here.
Lt. Gov. Claims It’s “Easier To Get A Gun Than A Happy Meal In California”
Not to be outdone in absurd exaggeration, California Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom claimed in a tweet on Tuesday, “It’s easier to get a gun than a Happy Meal in California.” Apparently, Newsom was out to one-up President Barack Obama, who lectured after the ambush assassination of Dallas police that “It’s easier for a teenager to buy a Glock than get his hands on a computer or even a book.”
Of course, the only way Newsom’s claim could be true is if minors were barred from buying Happy Meals, if buying them required a mandatory background check and 10-day waiting period, and if Happy Meals were required to be stored under lock and key, and illegal to sell at all unless they met California-specific requirements.
For decades, California has had the strictest anti-gun laws in the nation, yet its gun-related murder rate is still 25 percent higher than the national average. Newsom’s hogwash hyperbole can’t hide that.
Bay State Ban: Massachusetts AG Exploits Tragedy To Expand Pointless Law
In an insulting op-ed so full of bias and half-truths we’re surprised it was deemed fit for print, Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey on Wednesday cited the Orlando tragedy and recent police shootings as support for her plan to make the state’s so-called “assault weapons” ban even more of an affront to the Second Amendment than it already is.
Current law prohibits possession of so-called “assault weapons,” as well as copies/duplicates. But after stating AR-style rifles are “not weapons of self-defense” and “have no business being in civilian hands,” Healey announced she was ending sales of “state-compliant” versions of modern sporting rifles by vastly expanding what constitutes a “copy"—a move that could lead to a total ban on semi-automatics.
“States have a duty to enact and enforce laws that protect people from gun violence,” Healy said. But while gun stores statewide are already removing these newly illegal firearms from shelves, Healy still hasn’t attempted to explain how banning a popular home-defense firearm used in only a tiny percent of murders will do anything to protect anyone.
Maine: Spread The Word On Why To Vote NO On Question 3
In his drive to impose New York City-style gun controls on the citizens of Maine, former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg and his anti-gun lobbying groups are spending lavishly in Maine to deceive voters about Question 3, which would ban "transfers" of firearms—including loans, gifts and other innocent temporary “transfers,” even for self-defense—unless approved through background checks by a federally licensed firearms dealers.
But now, a new NRA website—votenoquestion3.org—exposes the truth about Question 3 and Bloomberg’s plan to criminalize perfectly innocent activities by Maine gun owners and hunters.
USE YOUR POWER!
Mainers, spread the word about Bloomberg’s plans for your Second Amendment rights by visiting the website mentioned above and forwarding it to every gun owner you know in the Pine Tree State.
