Homeowner Shoots Robber During Early Morning Intrusion

After an unexpected 5 a.m. knock on the door, an Owsley County, Ky., man opened his front door to see a gun pointed at his face. Fortunately for the homeowner, he had taken his gun with him.

LEX18.com is reporting that a group of three individuals planned to break into the residence and rob the owner, James Stewart. When he answered the door, Stewart said a man “had his pistol out, looked like a 6-inch barrel on it. I had my pistol in my hand, up and four shots. He fell to the ground and never moved.”

Stewart said he and his wife were robbed at gunpoint years ago, so he felt he needed to do whatever it took to protect her this time. The gun-wielding robber died at the scene. A woman at the door was also shot in the arm, and she escaped with another female accomplice. Both women were arrested at a nearby hospital.
