June Sets Yet Another Gun Sales Record

posted on July 6, 2016

June—a month when gun sales typically drop—became the 14th straight month for record gun sales in the United States.

In a rise likely spurred by calls from anti-gun politicians for more restrictions, the FBI processed more than 2.1 million gun-related background checks last month, up by 600,000 from last June’s record number.

June’s numbers were even higher than the number of gun sales in May, which typically hasn’t been the case in past years. Sales so far this year have 2016 on pace to break 2015’s record for most gun-related background checks in a year.
