The conventions are over, and the candidates have spoken.
Hillary Clinton, in her acceptance speech in Philadelphia, said she doesn’t want to repeal the Second Amendment or take anyone’s guns away—assertions she has made before and that we have addressed here.
Still, she continues to push for further restrictions on gun ownership that won’t affect violent criminals, but only America’s law-abiding gun owners. Make no mistake about it, she does want to ban guns (it’s written in black and white in the party platform) and she is the anti-gun candidate in this race.
At the other end of the spectrum, Donald Trump told those gathered in Cleveland that he’ll fight for the Second Amendment rights of Americans.
Clearly, for those who value the right to keep and bear arms, there’s only one good choice.“My opponent wants to essentially abolish the Second Amendment,” Trump said. “I, on the other hand, received the early and strong endorsement of the National Rifle Association and will protect the right of all Americans to keep their families safe.”
Clearly, for those who value the right to keep and bear arms, there’s only one good choice—Donald Trump. So it’s time to sit back and wait for November to roll around so we can cast our votes.
The next few months will be the most important in the campaign. And law-abiding gun owners must do all we can to educate people on the importance of the Second Amendment in this upcoming election and make sure all who feel the way we do make it to the polls to cast their vote.
You can start by discussing the issue with your family and friends every chance you get. Social media also gives you an excellent opportunity to share your convictions on a more widespread basis. Share reports from A1F Daily on your Facebook page. There’s a good chance people who don’t understand the issue can be convinced with factual, reasoned explanation. But if they never see or hear it, they’ll never be convinced.
The next critical step is to sign up to be part of NRA-ILA’s grassroots election efforts. Through that webpage, you can:One of the simplest, yet most important, things gun owners can do this election season is ensure they are registered to vote.
Contact your NRA-ILA Election Volunteer Coordinator (or even volunteer to be one). EVCs are NRA members who act as liaisons between NRA members and gun owners in their communities and pro-freedom candidates’ campaigns.
Become a Second Amendment Activist Center. If you own your own business or know someone who does, this is the program for you. These businesses will serve as distribution points for NRA-ILA election and legislative materials.
Register to vote and help others get registered. One of the simplest, yet most important, things gun owners can do this election season is ensure they are registered to vote. Our vote is our voice; if we don't use it, we will lose it!
Join NRA-ILA’s free FrontLines Volunteer Program and recruit additional FrontLines volunteers. Make no mistake; our strength is in our numbers. And FrontLines volunteers represent the tip of NRA’s grassroots arrow. NRA-ILA FrontLines is comprised only of the most dedicated and active volunteers who are willing to work vigorously with NRA-ILA and their EVCs to defend our Second Amendment rights.
Recruit others to receive ILA’s free email alerts. As a reader of the Grassroots Alert, it is important that you assist in recruiting additional recipients. In addition to receiving the Grassroots Alert via email, subscribers will also get ILA's email alerts.
Between now and November, we must do everything in our power to educate and inform those we know—and even those we don’t—about the importance of the Second Amendment in this critical election. We simply can’t let our children and grandchildren down.
