Home Invasion Halted By Kentucky Armed Citizen

Several adults and children were startled when four armed individuals—Kevin Helton, 48; Cindy Puckett, 41; Jonathan Goodan, 45; and Brittany Crouch, 28—broke into their Carter County, Ky., home at around 8 a.m. Saturday. After the robbers stole an undisclosed amount of cash, an altercation broke out between the homeowner and one of the robbers. Fearing for the safety of his family, the homeowner fired a shot, fatally wounding Helton and ending the attack.

Puckett and Goodan fled on foot, while Crouch remained on the scene and was arrested once police arrived. Puckett and Goodan were found a short time later, and all three have been charged with first-degree robbery.

Unfortunately, neighbors say such occurrences are becoming increasingly common. “There’s a lot of drug activity in this area,” a neighbor who wished to remain anonymous told WSAZ. “I live here with my younger child, and I’m just afraid someone will [try to break in], but I’m prepared if they do.”
