Man Saves Neighbor From Estranged Husband Under Restraining Order

posted on August 24, 2016

About 8 p.m. last Friday, a man in Gonzales, La., heard a disturbance at the house next door and went to see if his neighbor needed help. As he approached the residence, Nicky Wilkinson—the neighbor’s estranged husband—pointed a gun at him. The concerned neighbor then pulled his own gun and fired one shot, killing Wilkinson.

According to local media, the neighbor might have arrived just in the nick of time to save his neighbor, as Wilkinson apparently had a history of violence. In February, Wilkinson’s wife had filed a restraining order against him. As it was still an active petition, that meant Wilkinson was already in direct violation of court order. The two were due in court this Friday.

No charges are expected to be filed against the helpful neighbor.
